Walgreens Couponing 101
Here is the lowdown on some great savings. There are several ways to save at Walgreens:
Weekly Sales - If you don't get a Walgreens insert in your Sunday paper, you'll find them in a rack near the entrance of the store. You can also find them online HERE. In this circular, you'll also find another way to save:
Weekly Walgreens Coupons - Located in the weekly sale circulars mentioned above. Usually there is a limit on how many times you can use the same coupon so check the fine print.
Manufacturers Coupons - You can always combine a Walgreens coupon with a manufacturers coupon for the SAME ITEM. This can mean big savings.
Register Rewards - Register Rewards are coupons for dollars off your next purchase. These print out at checkout along with your receipt. Check the Walgreens sale flyer to see which purchases will qualify. Items usually change from week to week, although some will qualify all month long. Many times the RR's require a QUANTITY purchase. For example, "buy 3 Robitussin products, get $10 in RR's". The key to the RR system is to try and find coupons that make your purchase lower than the RR's you'll get back. During the Robitussin deal (week of 9/7/08) there was a printable coupon for $3 off any Robitussin. We were able to get 3 products for under $3, and then get a $10 RR - for an overage of $7!
Be Aware:
- You can never use a RR to get a RR for the same product - or for any other product made by the same manufacturer. In the above example, I couldn't take my $10 RR, buy more Robitussin and get another $10. Also, I couldn't use that $10 to purchase something else made by the manufacturer of Robitussin and get more RR's. Be sure if you are "rolling" your RR's into another deal you know who the manufacturers are!
- When purchasing items with Manufacturer coupons, the policy is that you can not have more coupons than items. You might think "Yeah, right" but it happens. If you have 6 items in your cart and you have a manufacturer coupon for every item and trying to use a RR, you will get a beep at the register. You will need a filler item for any amount. I try to look for the smallest value. And if you do your math and figure it out before hand, you can walk out of the store only paying from the change in your pocket. For Example: This week Dove products are on sale for $4.99 and BOGO free. I purchased 4 shampoos and 4 conditioners. I had 4 dove shampoo q's for $1.00/1 and 4 dove conditioner q's for $1.50/1. Total = $19.96 - $10 in q's = $9.96. I had a RR for $8.00. Final price would be $1.96 but because I had a RR I had to add a filler item in. In this case I used Act II popcorn on sale with a wags in-store ad for $0.25. My oop was $1.29.

Subscribe to Walgreens.com - Every so often Walgreens will email a great coupon just for subscribers: $10 off a $40 purchase, $5 off a $25 purchase, etc. Go to WALGREENS.COM to sign up for sweet deals!

* B1G1 FREE sales - can I use TWO coupons when buying B1G1 free items even though one of them is free? (answer - yes)
* Can I combine a Walgreens coupon with a manufacturers coupon on the same item? (answer - yes)
* Other things to ask about: rainchecks, rolling RR's into another RR purchase, etc.
* If you decide to email them, it doesn't hurt to keep a copy of their reply in your coupon organizer in case you run into difficulty. I'm kind of excited about this since KMart is about an hour drive away. If I find some good deal, it might be worth it.
Just locate the layaway items that have a special icon on them. You have an 8 week period to make payments on the items. Then just pick up the items at a layaway location you specify. It is that simple!

Kroger will triple coupons up to and including $0.39 and double up to and including $0.50. For example:
a $0.25 coupon will give a $0.75 savings, a $0.50 coupon will give a $1.00 savings but a $1.00 coupon will only give a $1.00 savings. Be sure to hand over your Kroger Rewards card before your coupons. D/T (doubling/tripling) is a Rewards Card benefit and your coupons will only D/T if your card is scanned first.
The Kroger stores in my area will D/T for the first 3 like coupons. Anything after that is taken at face value. For example: If you purchase 4 boxes of Fiber One Bars. You have 4 coupons that are $0.40/1. The first 3 coupons will be doubled to $0.80 and the last will be taken at face value ($0.40)
Or
If you purchase 4 boxes of Fiber One Bars. You have 3 coupons that are $0.40/1 and 1 coupon that is $0.30/1. The first 3 coupons will be doubled to $0.80 and the last will be trippled to $0.90.
Kroger rarely gives overage. A time that might happen is with a mega event where if you purchase x amount of items you will get $x taken off at the end. Or I have had a Kroger store coupon for $3/5 Comfort for Baby Items. I purchased 5 Comfort for Baby gallon Water ($0.88 ea) and received $0.60 in overage.
Occasionally, there are catalina coupons that print out if you purchase a certain amount of items. Catalina coupns will give you money on your next visit. The great thing about these are you can use it to purchase the same item again.
And finally, as usual, your manager may override any of these store rules. Just remember, you are not doing anything wrong. Stick up for yourself, and if a cashier or manager won't budge on a coupon, just send the item back, try again later.

E-Coupons!!
There are a few ways you can save money without clipping any coupons. A few of them are:

With shortcuts.com you can register many loyalty cards. In my area the only store available is Kroger. I believe you can have a total of 50 e-coupons. They will come off your card by using them or expiration. I try not to "fill up" my card just in case other coupons come along during the month. You may use paper coupons with these e-coupons to further your savings.
Agian, with p&gesaver.com I can only use it with Kroger. It basically has the same rules as shortcuts.
On Cellfire.com just register your cell phone number and put in the zip code of a major city (I use Houston) and then add in your Kroger or Randells customer loyalty cards. When you go to the grocery store and purchase the specific items, the coupon amount will come off automatically which you can verify on your receipt. To maximize your savings, conjoin a paper coupon with the e-coupon.
Upromise.com is a cool website. It allows you to register your loyalty cards and debit cards to save money for college. You would click on the e-coupons and if you buy that product, it will set aside money an your account for your children's college fund. You don't actually get the savings at the store, just wanted to make that clear. Honestly, the savings are very slow to come, you'll get the bigger savings if you shop through the upromise website.
On a side note, always try to boost your savings at the stores by adding your e-coupons and using paper coupons together. The bummer part, if you have the same e-coupon on the first 3 sites, it will only take one off per item purchased. I hope this helped.
