As a customer-focused retailer, Walgreens encourages the use of coupons by our customers in our retail stores, in accordance with the following guidelines.

General

• All valid coupons should be presented to the cashier at the time of checkout.
• Walgreens does not accept expired coupons.
• Coupons and their face value cannot be exchanged for cash or gift cards.
• Competitor coupons are not accepted at Walgreens.
• Walgreens cannot accept coupons for items not carried in our stores.
• The number of manufacturer coupons, including Register RewardsTM manufacturer coupons, may not exceed the number of items in the transaction. The total value of the coupons may not exceed the value of the transaction. Sales tax must be paid, if required by state law.
• Any coupon offer not covered in these guidelines will be accepted at the discretion of Walgreens management.

Sale Items

• Walgreens will accept manufacturer coupons for an item that is on sale.
• In the event that any item's selling price is less than the value of the coupon, Walgreens will only accept the coupon in exchange for the selling price of the item. Coupon redemption can never exceed the selling price of an item and no cash back is ever provided in exchange for any coupons.

Multiple Coupons

• When purchasing a single item, Walgreens accepts one manufacturer coupon and applicable Walgreens coupon(s) for the purchase of a single item, unless prohibited by either coupon offer.
• The coupon amount must be reduced if it exceeds the value of the item after other discounts or coupons are applied. (For example, a $5.00 coupon for a $4.99 item will result in a $4.99 coupon value).
• When purchasing multiple items, Walgreens accepts multiple identical coupons for multiple qualifying items as long as there is sufficient stock to satisfy other customers, unless a limit is specified. Management reserves the right to limit the quantity of items purchased.

Buy One, Get One Free Coupons

• When items are featured in a Buy One, Get One Free promotion, up to two coupons can be used against the items being purchased, as long as the net price does not go below zero for the items being purchased.
• Sales tax must be paid for any Buy One, Get One Free coupon offers, if required by applicable state laws.

Internet/Print at Home Coupons

• Walgreens accepts valid internet/print at home coupons.

Register RewardsTM coupons

Walgreens: Free Kleenex!

Walgreens has a very hot Kleenex deal which you'll want to jump on this week--especially since we're in the middle of cold and flu season. Here's how to get "paid" to buy boxes of Kleenex at Walgreens:

Buy 3 boxes of Kleenex Facial Tissue--$1.09 with the in-ad coupon
Use $0.50/3 coupon here or from the 10/4 or 11/1 SmartSource inserts
Use $1/1 Kleenex coupon from the November Healthy Savings Booklet (will deduct $3)
Free plus $0.23 overage after coupons

You'll need to add in a filler that is $0.23 or more if you're only buying boxes of Kleenex, otherwise not all of your coupons will go through as you'll have a negative balance. I recommend that you hand the manufacturer's coupon first, then the Healthy Savings coupon, then the in-ad coupon. If you do it this way, you shouldn't have a problem with beeping or with your coupons not going through.

If you don't have the manufacturer's coupon, you'll only pay $0.09 out of pocket--which is an excellent deal on Kleenex!

Walgreens Couponing 101

Here is the lowdown on some great savings. There are several ways to save at Walgreens:

Weekly Sales - If you don't get a Walgreens insert in your Sunday paper, you'll find them in a rack near the entrance of the store. You can also find them online HERE. In this circular, you'll also find another way to save:

Weekly Walgreens Coupons - Located in the weekly sale circulars mentioned above. Usually there is a limit on how many times you can use the same coupon so check the fine print.

Manufacturers Coupons - You can always combine a Walgreens coupon with a manufacturers coupon for the SAME ITEM. This can mean big savings.

Register Rewards - Register Rewards are coupons for dollars off your next purchase. These print out at checkout along with your receipt. Check the Walgreens sale flyer to see which purchases will qualify. Items usually change from week to week, although some will qualify all month long. Many times the RR's require a QUANTITY purchase. For example, "buy 3 Robitussin products, get $10 in RR's". The key to the RR system is to try and find coupons that make your purchase lower than the RR's you'll get back. During the Robitussin deal (week of 9/7/08) there was a printable coupon for $3 off any Robitussin. We were able to get 3 products for under $3, and then get a $10 RR - for an overage of $7!

Be Aware:
- You can never use a RR to get a RR for the same product - or for any other product made by the same manufacturer. In the above example, I couldn't take my $10 RR, buy more Robitussin and get another $10. Also, I couldn't use that $10 to purchase something else made by the manufacturer of Robitussin and get more RR's. Be sure if you are "rolling" your RR's into another deal you know who the manufacturers are!

- When purchasing items with Manufacturer coupons, the policy is that you can not have more coupons than items. You might think "Yeah, right" but it happens.  If you have 6 items in your cart and you have a manufacturer coupon for every item and trying to use a RR, you will get a beep at the register.  You will need a filler item for any amount.  I try to look for the smallest value.  And if you do your math and figure it out before hand, you can walk out of the store only paying from the change in your pocket.  For Example: This week Dove products are on sale for $4.99 and BOGO free. I purchased 4 shampoos and 4 conditioners.  I had 4 dove shampoo q's for $1.00/1 and 4 dove conditioner q's for $1.50/1.  Total = $19.96 - $10 in q's = $9.96.  I had a RR for $8.00. Final price would be $1.96 but because I had a RR I had to add a filler item in.  In this case I used Act II popcorn on sale with a wags in-store ad for $0.25.  My oop was $1.29.

A FEW MISCELLANEOUS NOTES:
Don't be shy about contacting the corporate office with comments, questions or suggestions! Every couple months, I email them to ask for their coupon policy in case there are any changes. I ask things like:
* B1G1 FREE sales - can I use a B1G1 free coupon on this sale and get both for free? (answer - yes)
* B1G1 FREE sales - can I use TWO coupons when buying B1G1 free items even though one of them is free? (answer - yes)
* Can I combine a Walgreens coupon with a manufacturers coupon on the same item? (answer - yes)
* Other things to ask about: rainchecks, rolling RR's into another RR purchase, etc.
* If you decide to email them, it doesn't hurt to keep a copy of their reply in your coupon organizer in case you run into difficulty. Many times the management and cashiers are not very familiar with the couponing rules for their store! Their responses to my most recent emails are HERE, HERE and HERE.

- Remember to be patient and kind with the Wags associates, even if they are being unfair because you'll be seeing a lot of them!
